The Public Historian. Reflexiones exploratorias sobre la historia pública estadounidense
Resumen
Este artículo se propone un acercamiento a la tradición norteamericana de historia pública. Plantearemos un panorama de las discusiones y problemáticas que moldearon el campo desde los años ’80, momento en que el movimiento de historia pública cobró fuerza en los Estados Unidos, hasta la actualidad. Para ello, nos concentraremos en un relevamiento exploratorio de su principal vehículo de discusión: la revista The Public Historian. Mediante una lectura teórica de algunos artículos seleccionados, intentaremos identificar las líneas de discusión que definieron los márgenes del campo actual de la Historia Pública norteamericana y evaluar en qué medida esas discusiones constituyen una agenda para la historiografía en general.
